Step-by-Step Guide to Frederick County Government's Recruitment Process
From application to offer, here is an overview of our recruitment process:
- Submit Your Application
Create your profile in www.Governmentjobs.com for easy application submission. Once you have located an advertised job announcement that you're interested in, click APPLY and begin your application form. NOTE: A separate application form is needed for each vacancy you are interested in.
- Application Review
Next, your application form is reviewed by a Talent Acquisition team member and hiring department professionals. NOTE: With exception to open until filled announcements which are processed weekly, applications are not reviewed until the job announcement reaches its advertised deadline date.
- Application Status
Once your information has been reviewed, you will receive a notification regarding your current application status. While we are eager to meet with you as soon as possible, please allow up to 15 business days for this notification to be sent.
If you have not received an update within this timeframe, please reach out to us at Recruitment@FrederickCountyMD.gov for assistance.
- Interview
Congratulations on moving forward in our hiring process!
At this stage, you will meet with members of the hiring department to complete any required skills testing and/or participate in an interview. This is not only a chance for us to learn more about your qualifications, but also an opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of our team and organization.
- Final Interview Steps
If selected, you'll be asked to complete a Background Information Review Form through our online portal and will also need to provide reference check information to your Frederick County Government Hiring Manager.
- You're HIRED!
Once an offer of employment has been extended by a FCG Hiring Manager, you will receive OnBoarding tasks such as offer letter review and acceptance, pre-employment requirements, and more through our OnBoarding portal.

This subscription takes the fear of missing out on an opportunity away by directly notifying you via email when a job is posting within your selected categories. Upon your confirmation, you will receive email notifications for up to 1 year from your subscription date.

All Frederick County Government job openings are posted on the County's official website, which links to GovernmentJobs.com. While you may see our job listings on other websites, only applications submitted through GovernmentJobs.com are guaranteed to reach out Human Resources office for consideration. To make sure your application is received and reviewed, always apply through the official County link!
When you apply, you will be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire as part of the application process. Be sure to answer every required question thoughtfully and thoroughly. Leaving out important details or providing inaccurate responses may affect how your application is reviewed and could result in it not being considered further. Take your time. It's worth the extra effort!
For your security, you will be automatically logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Any unsaved changes will be lost. Be sure to click the "Save Work in Progress" button often while completing your application, especially before stepping away from your computer.
After submitting your application, you should receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive it, log into your GovernmentJobs.com account and check your application status. If it shows "incomplete/unsubmitted" your application has not been officially submitted yet! Be sure to complete all steps and click "Submit" to ensure your application is received.
All applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. EST on the advertised deadline date. If you're in the process of applying and miss the deadline, please contact Talent Acquisition staff immediately for assistance. Don't wait! Missing the deadline may prevent your application from being considered.
Be sure to sign up for email alerts when applying to stay updated on your application status. After signing up, you should receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive it, check your spam or junk folders, and add us to your email safe list. Completing all these steps helps ensure you do not miss any important updates!
