Application Tip #1

All Frederick County Government positions are advertised through the County website, which is linked to Other advertising websites post our vacancies, but only applying through will ensure HR has actually received your application materials for consideration!

Application Tip #2

When you apply, you will be required to answer a supplemental questionnaire. Take your time and answer all required questions thoroughly.  Excluding important details or answering a supplemental question inaccurately may result in your application not receiving the attention it deserves.

Application Tip #3

Upon submitting your application you should receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive this email be sure to check your application status is not in "incomplete/unsubmitted" status.

Application Tip #4

You will be automatically logged-out of the system after 30 minutes of inactivity. Any unsaved changes will be lost. Be sure to click the 'Save Work in Progress' button frequently while working on your application and before you leave the computer for an extended period of time.

Application Tip #5

All applications must be submitted by the 4:00pm EST deadline. If you are in the process of applying and miss this deadline immediately contact HR-Recruitment staff for further assistance.

To stay up to date on your application status be sure to sign up for alerts. This will ensure you don't miss out on any communications. Also be sure to check your spam folders and add us to your safe list.

Recruitment Timeline For General Positions

Your step-by-step overview of FCG's application, interview and selection process!

  • Submit your application to an advertised announcement 

    Create your profile in for easy application submission.  A separate application form is needed for each vacancy you are interested in.


  • Your application is reviewed by a team of HR-Recruitment and hiring department professionals 

    NOTE:  With exception to open until filled announcements which are processed weekly, applications are not reviewed until the job announcement reaches its advertised deadline date.


  • Notification is sent to applicants detailing their current application status 

    We want to meet with you ASAP but do ask for a total of 15 business days to notify you of your current application status. NOTE: If you have not received notification within this time frame, please contact


  • Meeting with the hiring department 

    At this time, you will meet with members from the hiring department to complete required skills testing and/or complete an interview.  This is an opportunity for you to learn more about us, and for us to learn more about you!


  • Final hiring steps 

    You'll be asked to complete a Criminal History Disclosure form through our online portal, and will also need to provide reference check information to your FCG Hiring Manager.


  • You're HIRED! 

    Once an offer of employment  has been extended  by a FCG Hiring Manager, you will receive OnBoarding tasks such as offer letter review and acceptance, drug testing and physical examination completion, etc. through our OnBoarding portal.  We will be here to help you each step of the way.
